Monumental Decisions: Antiquities Act of 1906

Cultural Explorations are journeys of reflection, relationship, and resilience. This seminar traces the 1906 Antiquities Act from the Mesa Verde cliff dwellings that sparked national debate, to Bears Ears and the first tribally co-managed national monument, to Ute Mountain Ute Tribal Park. Lodging, program transport, and most meals are included. A $1,500 deposit holds your seat; the balance posts to the same Altru revenue record.

   Arrive Cortez

   Opening night on Crow Canyon’s 170-acre campus. Holiday Inn Express, Cortez.

2. Mon 14

   Campus & the Act

   Mesa Verde-region ancestral farmers and the 19th-century events that set the stage for 1906.

3. Tue 15

   Mesa Verde

   Cliff dwellings and sunset reflection. Overnight at Far View Lodge.

4. Wed 16

   Ute Mountain Ute Tribal Park

   Guided day on ancestral lands with the Tribe’s connection to stewardship.

5. Thu–Sat

   Bears Ears & close

   Intertribal Coalition perspectives, then return to Cortez Saturday morning.
